About the role:

We are seeking to recruit an excellent Animal Science Technician, on a casual* basis to work as a member of a team providing technical support to the Centre for Applied Sciences. You will assist in the maintenance of the animal care and environment facilities at the Centre by provide general maintenance and husbandry (including cleaning and feeding) of animals, plants and equipment. You will participate in the organisation, purchasing and storage of food and assist and assess learners in practical classes as requested. Please note that there will be some weekend and bank holiday feeding of the animals required.

*Casual Workers are appointed to our casual register and working hours can vary anything from a couple of hours a week during term time, to some weeks occasionally to support during key times throughout the year. The hours and times are not fixed – we will ask you if you are available for cover.

About you:

You will have BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Science or Animal Management, Advanced Diploma in Environment and Land Based Studies or equivalent qualifications in appropriate subjects. You will have general knowledge of animal care, especially relating to fishes, small and exotic animals and their husbandry.
