Job overview

Oxford House School is a thriving co-educational Nursery and Preparatory School for pupils aged 2 ½ to 11 in Colchester, Essex. Part of Cognita, one of the world’s largest families of schools, Oxford House offers a traditional preparatory education based on the child-centred learning of the Montessori method. The School aims to develop its pupils’ potential, instil a love of learning and prepare them for entry to the best senior schools.

Following the retirement of Kate Golding after 17 years of excellent service, Cognita is now seeking an outstanding educationalist to lead Oxford House into the next stage of its development. This is an exciting opportunity to lead an exceptional preparatory school and contribute to the development of a growing network of schools with ambitious plans for the future.

The appointed candidate will combine a track record of highly successful senior leadership experience in a preparatory setting with the authority and personal impact to be a compelling ambassador for Oxford House and Cognita. A creative thinker, committed to character education, enrichment and fostering global perspectives, the next Head will possess the strategic skills to further develop Oxford House, and the warmth and charisma to inspire the School community to even greater success. A proactive willingness to embrace the many benefits of being part of Cognita is essential, as is a genuine resonance with Oxford House’s traditional approach.
