 Appointment of a Head

Frensham Heights is a highly distinctive day and boarding school in Surrey welcoming students aged 3 to 18, and offering a well-rounded education that is creative and cultural, as well as academic. Progressive and liberal in approach, Frensham is a student-centred environment where all young people acquire the values of respect, tolerance, enquiry, creativity, independence and resilience. Frensham aims to give all students the tools to succeed in their education, helping them to extend their abilities and exceed their own expectations.

The School now seeks a new Head for January 2019, following Andrew Fisher’s appointment to Fish & Nankevill (Melbourne) after 14 years of outstanding leadership. Working within a progressive and ambitious school community, the appointee will lead Frensham Heights into an exciting new chapter in its development, building on a strong platform of academic, pastoral and co-curricular success.

The successful candidate will share the community’s vision of liberal education, ensuring that Frensham’s reputation for ethos-led learning, holistic education, mutual respect and artistic expression is further strengthened. He or she will be a charismatic leader able to develop and clearly articulate the strategic vision, with strong intellectual abilities and a proven track record of senior leadership experience. The appointee will inspire a high calibre and committed senior leadership team and engage the entire community in the pursuit of excellence in and out of the classroom.

Values and vision

Frensham Heights School has nine core values: heritage, ambition, respect, equality, tolerance, self-discipline, cooperation, creativity and community. The school wishes to demonstrate these values, such as respect through example, believing that both teachers and students need to give and earn this to build a sound learning foundation. Pupils are encouraged to achieve their potential and are exposed to many opportunities to pursue and discover new talents. The school follows a no-uniform policy and teachers are called by their first name, with the aim that everyone at all levels are treated as individual people.

The motto at Frensham Heights School is ‘Think, Create, Explore’, and students are encouraged to be both inspired and inspiring, with many extra curricular activities offered - ranging from music-based to dance related.

Independent Schools Inspectorate

“Pupils’ attitudes to learning are almost always positive, and in many cases, extremely so. Pupils are attentive to their teachers and to each other, as they respond to teachers’ questions or take part in classroom debates. By the time they leave the school, almost all pupils gain qualifications and skills which show that they are well prepared for the next stage of their education and for their future careers”.
