Job overview

We are seeking to appoint a motivated, positive, innovative and passionate apprentice teacher to train alongside our experienced team. You will work with us to develop and deliver innovative, exciting and motivational experiences for a diverse range of young people mainly working from Entry Level 3 to Level 2. Our team support young people at the start of their learning journey, you will often lead their first positive experience in education. Alongside Level 2 English and maths skills you will have a sound academic profile and experience of engaging young people and robust behaviour management strategies or be very keen to develop!

All apprentice teachers will be remitted from teaching for 1 full day each week to enable them to access training delivered by the Outstanding Teacher Education team at Derby College/ University. To secure this role, you must have evidence of GCSE English and Maths (or equivalent) and a Level 3 or above qualification.

Fixed term until 31st July 2018.

Derby College is a large general further education college with four sites in or near the city of Derby. It supports around 26,000 learners, who choose from more than 1,000 full-time and part-time apprenticeship, A-level, BTEC and NVQ courses.   

Derby College was established as a single institution in 2002 by merging three further education colleges: Mackworth Tertiary College, Wilmorton Tertiary College and Broomfield Agricultural College. A merger between South East Derbyshire College and Derby College was approved in 2010. Heavy investment has been made by the college in its teaching and learning facilities, from the fully equipped teaching kitchens at the Roundhouse campus to the high-tech science labs at the Joseph Wright Centre and the Equestrian Centre at the Broomfield Hall campus.
