About St George's Academy
St George’s Academy was first established in May 1908, with 208 children on roll. The school was one of the first Technology Colleges; it has been Grant Maintained and was a Foundation School before becoming an Academy in January 2010. The school has a history of success with students and has a waiting list for every year group. The Academy occupies a site of 32 acres and has over 2300 students on roll, including just over 330 in the sixth form. The Academy is a comprehensive school serving Sleaford and the surrounding rural area. The Academy building programme has added significantly to the already very good facilities. Students attend the Academy from a distance of up to 15 miles. Many of the students live in small villages that surround Sleaford. The housing is still affordable and there are many beautiful villages and towns offering a high quality, rural lifestyle. Sleaford is a rural market town, with a mix of new and historic housing. The nearest large centre of population is the Cathedral City of Lincoln, 19 miles away. The Academy growth reflects the growth in the local population and the parental preference for the Academy over other schools.
