Job overview

Kingswood

It is an exciting time for Kingswood Secondary Academy. We are privileged to serve one of the most deprived communities in Northamptonshire, yet our fantastic students are now in the top third of Northamptonshire schools in terms of their academic outcomes. Contextually, this places our students in the top five secondary schools, out of 42, in the county. If you’d like to find out more about how we and our students work together to achieve this, and if you are a hardworking individual who enjoys being part of a team, then see the details below about coming in for a ‘Walk and Talk’.

The role

We are looking for an energetic and hardworking Apprentice Science Technician to support our Science curriculum. Our ideal candidate will have a passionate and uncompromising commitment to pupil achievement and be a believer in the potential of all young people. The entire Science team are committed to the pursuit of excellence and are team players with a strong desire to work collaboratively. You will be well supported by our excellent Senior Science Technician.

Undertaking the Science Technician role has the potential to provide a fantastic stepping stone for future careers. Experience gained in this role and the positive impact made on the lives of young people support access to a range of careers, such as teaching, medicine and further university study. Furthermore, we run a very successful Initial Teacher Training (ITT) programme at Kingswood. Someone who had successfully completed the role of Science Technician would, in time, be in a strong position to explore the potential of you completing an ITT with us and developing into a fantastic teacher.

This is a full-time role for 30 hours per week, or part-time would be considered.

Our Walk and Talk invitation to you

We warmly welcome potential candidates to come on what we refer to as a ‘Walk and Talk’. This usually takes less than an hour and can be during the academy day or after school has finished. We find this provides a great opportunity for candidates to get a really good insight into Kingswood prior to submitting an application. Please email jlawson@kingswoodsecondaryacademy.org (Senior Deputy Principal) if you would like to come in for a ‘Walk and Talk’.

Apply as early as you are able
