About St George's School - A Church of England Academy

Located in the seaside town of Blackpool, St George’s School is a co-educational secondary school. With around 1000 students aged 11-16, the school is slightly larger than the average secondary school of its type. St George’s has undergone a number of redevelopments and modernisation since its founding, and can now boast of a wide range of facilities such as a large gymnasium, and multi-purpose sports pitches as well as a number of modern classrooms and ICT suites. The school converted to academy status in 2014, and as a result is now a member of the Cidari Multi-Academy Trust, a trust run by the Blackburn Church of England Diocese.

Headteacher

Mr Graham Warnock

Values and Vision

St George’s School draws much of its ethos from traditional Christian values. To this end, the school works hard to foster a strong sense of community and self-respect among its students, encouraging them to work together for the common good. The curriculum at St Georges is designed to emphasise the importance of English, maths and accelerated reading from an early age, with setting by ability not taking place until Year 8.

Ofsted

“Pupils’ spiritual, moral, social and cultural development is excellent. Pupils take on responsibilities, and show respect for each other and for the adults who work with them. The school’s commitment to improving pupils’ literacy skills is highly effective. Pupils now read widely and often.”
