Job overview
We are seeking a technician to support and complement our existing technician team at this outstanding grammar school. We are looking for a highly motivated, organised and proactive team player who understands the legislative health and safety requirements regarding school technical operations.
This role is part of a team of technicians and is essential in supporting Art and Design lessons as well as providing occasional support in other curriculum areas as required. This will include liaising with teaching and support staff to ensure that the team are co-ordinating and providing the required service.
Duties will include, but are not limited to:
· Under the direction of the Senior Technician, and relevant teaching staff, to provide technical support for science lessons
· Provision, removal and cleaning of fully working equipment for lessons
· Providing technical advice and assistance to teachers and students, including assisting with practical lessons where appropriate
· Maintenance checks of all equipment
· Ensure all equipment and resources are stored correctly
· Preparation and setting up of equipment and resources. Clearing away and cleaning of equipment.
· Attending department meetings as appropriate
· Make suggestions for alternative approaches, resources and equipment
· Completion of risk assessments for own area of responsibility
· Work with teachers to reorganise resource requests if they are not available
· Ordering / procuring resources
· Running the kiln
