An exciting opportunity has arisen for a skilled and enthusiastic Technician to join a dedicated, friendly and professional Creative Arts and Design department.
We require an Art & Design/Design Technology technician to provide support for a large diverse department with responsibilities across subject areas which include Fine Art, Textiles, Graphic Design, Photography, Product Design and Engineering.
The Art and Design Technician will provide practical and administrative support to the Art Department across all disciplines. The successful candidate will have a relevant Art and Design qualifications and previous experience of working with a wide variety of art materials and techniques; as well as familiarity with the practicalities of creating physical displays and mounting work for exhibitions and in the preparation for moderation. Duties will include co-ordinating and preparing materials and resources for staff and setting up the darkroom, sewing machine maintenance and large format printing.
An essential part of the role will be to provide technical support to the Design & Technology and Engineering courses and so require the successful candidate to have workshop experience and certification and to be able to ensure health and safety requirements are met.
Good communication and ICT skills are also required for administration duties such as stock control, processing orders, uploading of work to the virtual learning area and assisting in meeting the needs of students and staff.
