We are seeking to appoint a part-time (30 hours) Art and Design Technician for term time only to start in October 2016. This part time position is term time only post (39 weeks) and is a grade 2, point 16 on the Support Staff Salary Spine, £19,558.02 plus an area allowance of £770.74 (pro rata to £24,944 plus £983 Area Allowance).

This post offers the successful applicant the opportunity to support the work of Art & Design within the Art, Design and Media Department. There are two other technicians within the Department who support Design and Technology and Film and Media Studies respectively.

Art and Design is part of the Art, Design and Media Department and has approximately 163 students studying a range of subjects including A Levels in Fine Art, Textiles and Photography as well as Level 3 BTECs in Photography and Art and Design. The Department benefits from recently refurbished accommodation including a dark room, specialist rooms and a separate kiln room.

The person appointed to this position will work to support the teaching staff in the Department principally through preparation of materials for practical activities and coursework. S/he will also take a key role in managing stock and the sale of materials to students as well as assisting with creating and maintaining displays of students’ work around the College. 

The post is offered on a permanent contract and offers an exciting opportunity to join a popular and successful sixth form college.  The starting salary for this post is the pro rata salary based on point 2 of the Sixth Form Colleges’ Support Staff pay spine, plus London fringe allowance.

The College offers all support staff the option of joining the Local Government Pension Scheme. This is a tax approved, defined benefit occupational pension scheme.
