Reports to: Deputy Head – Academic Accountable to: Principal
Salary: Scale between £13,800 and £19,000 (dependent on qualifications and experience)
Hours: 8.30am – 4pm, Monday to Friday (term time only) plus all INSET days (usually 5) and occasional Open Days or whole school events.
We require a Technician for our Art & Design faculty to be responsible for the preparation of teaching materials, stock control and the maintenance of tools and machines. The role will also involve supporting teachers in lessons and maintaining Health and Safety records. The Faculty is well equipped with a wide range of workshop machinery including a vacuum former, band saw, pillar drill, belt sander, scroll saws and casting equipment. We also have CAD/CAM facilities including a range of PC’s, vinyl cutter, laser cutter and a 3D printer. The Technician should ideally be comfortable working with all tools and machinery in the department, though training will be provided. It will also be useful to have an interest in or experience of Art, Photography and Textiles, given the broad range of subjects taught within the Faculty.
You should ideally have related experience, be able to demonstrate initiative and be confident working with both staff and pupils in a well-resourced and successful department. You must also be a good communicator with excellent organisational and time management skills, and be able to work independently and as part of a team. A practical awareness of health and safety is essential.
We have a fully equipped theatre on site for a range of performance needs. This role could encompass lighting technician duties for candidates with suitable experience.
