Art & DT Technician

Dubai Heights Academy is a warm and welcoming place to work. Located in the Al Barsha South area of Dubai, this is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and self-motivated Design Technology technician.

The school opened in 2017. It offers an inclusive, exciting and outstanding education to an international community of students from FS1 to Year 10 (2023-2024) and will continue to grow organically to Year 13.

The campus is state-of-the-art with separate buildings for each phase as well as a 380 seat auditorium. There are three temperature controlled swimming pools, fully equipped science and computer labs, specialist rooms for art, DT, music, and drama, a library, two multipurpose sports halls, a full size football pitch, a variety of outdoor play areas, a coffee shop and a spacious canteen. The academic year 2024-2025 will see the opening of a brand new secondary building, significantly enhancing the current facilities.

Dubai Heights Academy has an opening for a Art and DT Technician.

Responsibilities:

This role is crucial in ensuring the smooth operation of the Art and Design Technology department. The ideal candidate will assist students and staff, maintain a safe working environment, manage inventory, and prepare materials and resources for classes. Additionally, the technician will be involved in building props for school productions and maintaining workshop machinery.

• Assist in the smooth running of the Art and Design Technology departments.
• Provide support to students when using tools and machines in the Design Technology Workshop.
• Ensure the safety of both staff and students within the departments.
• Monitor and manage stock levels, including ordering and organising supplies.
• Assist in the preparation of materials and resources for lessons.
• Perform maintenance and daily checks on workshop machines.
• Assist in the construction of props for school productions.
• Demonstrate a keen eye for detail and enthusiasm for creating products from wood, metals, and plastics.

Requirements:

• Have an interest in and preferably experience of DT/Art and Graphic Design.
• Have knowledge of Art materials and equipment.
• Experience in a similar role within an educational setting is desirable.
• Strong understanding of health and safety practices in a workshop environment.
• Proficiency in using a variety of tools and machines for wood, metal, and plastic work.
• Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage stock effectively.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with staff and students.
• A passion for construction, design, and making products.
