Job overview

Repton International School in Malaysia is seeking a superb teacher and leader of art for our Arts team which covers art, music, drama and design. This important classroom role involves two components:

- Teaching across our Junior School (FS1, aged 3, through to Y6, aged 11);

- Supporting technicianship for our current Art and Design teachers, who each have a senior responsibility and thus need daily support at a low level with practical and logistical set-up and clear-up.

In the timetable for the coming academic year, these roles split almost exactly 50-50; in future years the growth of the school is likely to result in the role becoming full-time teaching in Junior School. Please see the further provided information on the role . As a result of containing a technician responsibility initially, the role may be suitable for NQTs - it would be a superb opportunity to learn from outstanding and experienced senior teachers of art and design with whole school data coordination roles and a key role leading an MIT-linked “Fabrication Laboratory.” More experienced applicants are equally welcome to apply.

Situated in the beautiful Johor Bahru province of Malaysia, just minutes from the causeway to Singapore and with impressive purpose-built facilities, Repton International School in Malaysia offers a superb opportunity for the right candidate. The school serves pupils in FS1 (EYFS) to Year 13 and teaches an enhanced English National Curriculum, leading to IGCSEs; pupils may choose either the IBDP or A Level pathway in the Sixth Form. With around 350 pupils and expanding, we are part of a global family of Repton schools across six countries, spanning the Eurasian landmass and into Africa too. Based on our core values of Respect, Wholeness, Truth and Excellence, a Repton education is a precious and powerful gift. It aims to produce young people who are:

Globally aware and internationally minded

Intellectually curious, culturally informed and spiritually alive

Happy, resilient, robust, self-motivated and confident

Socially conscious, politically informed and environmentally aware

Technologically fluent

Committed to excellence in all that they do.

We have a close-knit staff community in a country and region which is a delight to live in, and our pupils are diligent and a delight to teach; whilst we work hard to deliver the best to all our children, our staff almost universally praise and rate the quality of life here over other countries in which they have worked!

You will be qualified and experienced in teaching Art as a specialist subject, preferably in a Junior School setting; and / or a practising artist with extensive experience working with young people. Applications are by TES Quick Apply only and we will interview on a rolling basis until we find a candidate strong enough to meet our needs, so please apply as promptly as possible!

The Repton Family of Schools is committed to safeguarding the welfare of children. New staff will be subject to pre-employment clearance, including identity checks, criminal background checks for all countries lived and worked in, qualification checks, employment checks to include an exploration of any gaps in employment, and satisfactory reference checks for all employment in the last five years.
