The successful applicant will
Provide regular constructive feedback and guidance to students to help them improve their artistic skills.
Use data effectively to drive interventions and pedagogical decisions.
Work with the Head of Secondary Art to further raise the profile of art in the school and in the community.
Make sufficient time to meet with parents, update them on student progress and discuss issues of concern, working with the Secondary Head of Additional Support and the School Counsellor as necessary.
Lead a variety of artistic extracurricular activities.
Be open to research based pedagogical approaches including High Performance Learning.
Plan and organize competitions, art projects, field trips, and other activities that enhance students’ learning experiences.
Foster a supportive and inclusive classroom environment where students feel encouraged to express themselves creatively.
Make a significant contribution to the positive ethos and psychological environment of the Sultan’s School.
Lead information sessions with parents.
Participate in the school’s system of extracurricular activities.
Liaise with the Head of Secondary Additional Support over students who encounter difficulties in class.
Art Department Accomplishments
IGCSE
· Over the last 8 years our average A*-C pass rate is 89%, this is significantly higher than the world average.
· Out of 4 of the 8 Years, 100% of students have achieved A* to C.
IB
· We consistently achieve higher than the world average.
- On two occasions we have hosted workshops on behalf of the ministry of education, this was an initiative to help raise the standard of Art in the government’s local schools.
- We produced a mural for the opening of Muscat Aquarium's Educational Rooms.
- Our students' artwork has been turned into greetings cards and given as gifts to guests at the local Crown plaza.
- Hosted local and international artists for workshops
