King  Edward's School is looking to appoint an experienced and committed individual as a part time Art Technician.

The Art department currently offers painting and drawing, printing, graphics, sculpture, photography and ceramics throughout the School, and the Technician will be expected to provide technical, maintenance and administrative support across the range of disciplines. In addition, the Technician is expected to exercise a degree of initiative organising their own work programme to ensure tasks are completed quickly and efficiently, always ensuring the smooth running of teaching and learning within the department. The Technician may also contribute to departmental H&S policy by looking for opportunities to improve the organisation and safe use of equipment and materials within Art and Design.

The Technician will be expected to attend relevant training courses, which enhance their qualifications and role within the department, particularly in the case of Health and Safety. PAT testing of electrical equipment is also a significant role.

The Art and Design Department currently comprises 3 teachers, and is housed in generous accommodation including a graphics and print room, 3D room, painting and drawing room, dark room and storage facilities. Art and Design is offered to GCSE and IB Level, and several pupils go on to study art related subjects in post 18 education.

Directly Responsible to: Head of Art

Hours: Part-time (22.5 hours per week), term-time plus 10 days

Salary: Grade 5 £11,846 - £12,326 for hours shown above (FTE £23,700 - £24,660)
