Blossom House is an Ofsted rated ‘Outstanding’ specialist school for children aged 3 – 19 years of age with speech, language and communication difficulties. Although many of the children have some associated difficulties such as fine motor problems or poor organisational skills, they are all within the average range of cognitive abilities. The school seeks to maximise each child’s potential by offering a holistic, nurturing and supportive environment.

 

Arts Therapist (Music / Drama / Art) – Euston Site

 

Permanent, part-time (2 days per week with potential to increase to 3 days from September 2024)

 

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced and qualified Arts Therapist to join our Arts Therapy and Child Psychotherapy Team (ATCP).  

 

As well as maintaining a clinical caseload you will also be required to work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team of Speech & Language Therapists, Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Teachers, Dramatherapists, Music Therapists and Art Psychotherapists. The role will be based in Euston (NW1) with monthly visits to Motspur Park (KT3) to link with the wider Arts Therapies team. The successful candidate will be required to work 2 days a week with the potential to increase to 3 days from September 2024.

 

The successful candidate will be responsible for attending departmental meetings and peer supervision sessions, report writing, arranging and delivering training, and communicating with parents and external services where necessary. The successful candidate will be expected to work within the current departmental guidelines and protocols at all times and will be fully supported in their role by the Arts Therapy team coordinators.

The ideal candidate will have:                     

·        Confidence, enthusiasm and a passion for the Arts Therapies within education.

·        The ability to build good working relationships with children, teachers, parents and carers.

·        The confidence to deliver individual and small group work to students with speech, language and communication needs.

·        Experience of working with children with Special Education Needs (SEN), particularly children on the Autism Spectrum.

·        Completed all relevant training and qualifications and hold current accreditation.

·        Experience of working within a multi-disciplinary team.

·        Experience of managing a caseload across a wide range of ages (3 – 16 years).

·        A good awareness of professional and therapeutic boundaries.

·        Excellent reading, writing and numeracy skills.

 

The role is permanent, part-time

(2 days per week – with potential to increase) to be worked between Monday to Friday, 08:30 – 17:00,

10.6 weeks holiday including statutory bank holidays

 

Annual salary: Between £14,040 (Full-Time Equivalent £35,100) - £16,160 (Full-Time Equivalent £40,400)
