The Livity School is an established and unique primary school for children of 2 to 11 years with complex special educational needs.

Join us in our new school

In January 2013, the expansion of our staff team and move to new, state of the art premises, will make this a very special place – for our children and their parents, the community as a whole and for those of us who are privileged to work there. There could not be a better or more exciting time to join our dedicated staff.

The new school will be arranged on 3 Floors. The purpose of this is to provide a shared communal area on the Ground Floor, enabling community engagement out of school hours. There is a KS1 and KS2 teaching and learning classroom area on the first floor for nine classes and a dedicated Early Years zone on the second floor. Though there are three lifts, the innovative use of an elevated open plan walkway is at the heart of the school and provides connectivity between floors.

Now even better equipped to meet the severe and complex needs of more children

We have interpreted ‘Livity’ (an Afro-Carribean word ) to mean ‘Living Life Positively’ and our aim is to help pupils with a wide range of disability to build the self esteem and confidence to develop their learning and development skills, grow as individuals and achieve their full potential in all areas of the curriculum.

In our most recent inspection Ofsted assessed The Livity as a good school but recognised the limitations of the building. The new Livity offers excellent facilities and more space in a purpose built environment, which is designed to enable us to better meet the needs of children with severe and complex needs. With this move the school roll will increase to 88 children and there will be greater opportunities to develop our early years provision, inclusion practice and extended services such as holiday play schemes, after school clubs and Saturday school.

We will also be further developing our outreach programme and links with local mainstream schools and other partners to provide specialist training and support to staff and parents, share resources and best practice, and create opportunities for joint activities and the interchange of staff and pupils.
