Job overview

To provide 1:1 support to a Year 2 pupil with autism to enhance his learning, and help with his daily routine. Working very closely with both the family and School, you will provide reliable, enthusiastic and sensitive guidance to help him overcome barriers to learning and facilitate him to access the full curriculum. 

You will assist with developing and implementing his individual support plan and work under the guidance of teaching staff to undertake a programme for him; work may be carried out in the classroom, outside the main teaching area or at home. Currently, in a class of 10 children, you will actively plan activities and guide and support him in lessons and activities such as swimming, physical education, messy play and music.

Staff working at Mowden Hall promote the highest standards of teaching, learning and pastoral care. You will work as part of the Pre-Prep team to establish a happy, positive, conscientious approach to home, classroom, physical education, and sports activities and encourage him to be confident and courteous.

Maintaining confidentiality at all times, you will also perform administrative tasks, such as maintaining a pupil file detailing strategies,  interventions, and pupil progress.

You will be employed by the family.

Mowden Hall is an independent co-educational boarding and day school of 200 children from age 3 – 13 situated in the Northumberland countryside, fifteen miles west of Newcastle. The Pre-Prep and Nursery are based on the same site and share facilities with the Prep School. The Prep School has a strong boarding ethos with the majority of the children boarding.
