This is an exciting opportunity to join our Workforce Development team at Newcastle-under-Lyme College in delivering high quality apprenticeships and work based training to local employers.

We are looking for a suitably qualified and experienced Assessor to join our pro-active, dynamic and friendly team of Assessors. The successful candidate will be required to deliver high quality apprenticeships and work based training to local employers. You will assess our clients / apprentices in their place of work, and seek to combine a speedy achievement for our employers with a quality product for our candidates as well as developing, maintaining and account managing relationships with our local employers.

As well as having substantial work experience in your subject area, you will be qualified in Painting & Decorating to at least level 3 and you must hold an Assessor Award or have the willingness to work towards it. In addition you will hold English and Maths GCSE or equivalent and would also be desirable to have recent experience of Assessing up to Level 3.

You will need access to your own suitable transport to be able to visit clients across the Staffordshire region.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • To develop, maintain and account manage relationships with local employers.
  • To deliver high quality apprenticeships by carrying out workplace assessment and delivering underpinning knowledge where required as a classroom programme.
  • To screen potential new employers
  • To take an active part in the recruitment of new apprentices through contact with local employers - managing key accounts, schools and through events. You will be responsible for securing a caseload sufficient to hit your targets.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Has experience and/or holds a degree or other relevant qualification in an appropriate subject along with English & Math
  • Holds relevant assessor qualifications or willingness to work towards i
  • Is willing to work flexibly including evenings when required
  • Is conversant with current assessment procedures and able to assess up to NVQ Level III.

Newcastle-Under-Lyme College is a mixed, non-denominational further education college in Staffordshire, serving students from the age of 16 and above. The further education college, situated in Newcastle under Lyme has approximately 3,800 full time learners on site every year, along with 2,600 part time or adult learners.

Newcastle-Under-Lyme College opened in 1986 and in 2010,  moved to a £60 million campus. In 2015, a £5.5 million performing arts centre opened, while an outdoor learning centre built the following year. The college works closely with LEGO Education to help support learners and teachers and has invested £60,000 in a LEGO Education Innovation Studio. Other facilities include The Gordon Banks Sports Centre, which features a 24 station gym, a media theatre, fashion studio and a hair and beauty training salon.
