Benenden School, one of the country’s leading independent boarding schools, has an exciting opportunity, for someone with experience of working in a bookkeeping/finance assistant role, within its Finance Department. This is a fixed term Maternity Cover position to start as soon as possible for a period of up to 15 months. 

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic team player to join our Finance team, working closely with other departments in a progressive educational and boarding community. Key duties will include balance sheet reconciliations, posting bank transactions, petty cash and foreign currency reconciliations, quarter VAT returns, providing support to trip leaders when planning trip budgets and generally assisting the finance team as required. It would suit someone holding or interested in working towards a professional finance qualification or qualified by experience.

The key attributes for this role are:

·      Previous experience in a finance/bookkeeping role;

·      Excellent IT skills;

·      A confident communicator;

·      Discretion and the ability to maintain confidentiality at all times;

·      Very good attention to detail, accuracy and timeliness;

·      Ability to work autonomously;

·      Problem solver;

·      High level of professionalism;

·      Flexible approach to work;

·      Ability to work independently as well as a member of a team;

This is an important role for a person looking to develop their career in Finance. Experience in a school role and knowledge of Sage would be advantageous but is not essential.

Salary will be dependent upon experience, in the region of £30,000- £32,404 per annum pro rata.

Working pattern to be agreed Term Time, plus additional days in the holidays to suit the needs of the Department.

Benenden School is an independent boarding school for girls, founded in 1923 and situated in 250 acres of beautiful parkland in rural Kent. At present, there are 550 girls in the School, aged 11-18, with approximately 190 of those in the Sixth Form. We are an ambitious school, with recent developments including a state-of-the-art Science Centre and All-Weather Sports Pitch, and the newly established Centenary Hall and Sir David K.P.Li Music School.

Meals are provided to staff whilst on duty. The School’s leisure facilities, including a fitness gym and swimming pool are available for staff to use.
