Glebe School are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, conscientious and well-organised assistant caretaker. This is a great opportunity for an ambitious individual to join our team.

This role is full-time, 52 weeks per year. Hours: 10am – 6.00pm Monday to Friday, 36 hours per week.

Glebe School is a secondary special school for pupils with moderate learning difficulties and complex needs including autistic spectrum disorders. We are seeking an assistant caretaker to work with the caretaker and school business manager to manage site security and to maintain the fabric and grounds of the school; promoting a safe working environment. The role requires an individual who is pro-active, demonstrates sound judgement and has high standards, in keeping with our ‘Outstanding’ Ofsted grade, under the new framework, in December 2019.  

The successful applicant will have:

 An understanding of basic health & safety requirements, including fire safety, manual handling and COSHH and a willingness to undertake further training as required.

 Knowledge of security methodology for buildings and grounds.

 Ability to perform the physical tasks required by the post, including lifting, carrying and pushing equipment, furniture and supplies.

 Experience of carrying out basic administrative and IT tasks, including checking stock, ordering supplies and logging statutory checks  

 D.I.Y. skills to undertake basic repairs and maintenance of the building.
