We have a strong heritage. Our founder school, Cheadle Hulme High School, has been judged as Outstanding in its last two Ofsted inspections. Gorsey Bank is a high performing primary in Wilmslow and we are also home to the Altius Alliance, a teacher training provider which has been given the top grade by Ofsted.

As a result of our success, we are proud to have been selected to open five brand new schools, three of which opened in September 2018.

This is, therefore, an important stage in the development of The Laurus Trust. With our growth comes the opportunity for talented staff to make their mark.

That is why we are looking for an Assistant Caretaker to join us at this exciting time. The job is physically demanding and will involve working a shift, may be split, between the hours of 6.00am – 7.00pm, Monday to Friday, predominantly at Laurus Cheadle Hulme and Cheadle Hulme Primary School, but on occasions you may be asked to work at any Laurus Trust Schools.  Some overtime will be necessary to cover for evening and weekend events for which additional payment will be made at the appropriate overtime rates. The successful candidate must have their own transport and be prepared to train as a first aider and will be offered all relevant training.

This is an important appointment for the Trust as you will contribute to a team that provides a high quality service across all of our schools, delivering a positive operational and educational experience for all stakeholders.

In return, we recognise that our non-teaching leaders and staff are critical to the success of the Trust. We champion, celebrate and nurture their expertise and experience.

You will be joining an organisation that is committed to the development of all its staff.

Laurus Cheadle Hulme (LCH) is a non-selective, non-denominational Free School. It opened in September 2018. We currently have a total of 1071 students on roll.

Cheadle Hulme is a pleasant residential suburb on the edge of the Borough of Stockport, eleven miles south of the centre of Manchester. The location enjoys the advantages of proximity to the open countryside of Cheshire and the Peak District and the cultural and sporting activities of a major city.

Our students are housed in a purpose-built building with access to state-of-the-art facilities and overlooking Bruntwood Park, with our Year 11 students progressing to Sixth Forms in the Laurus Trust. We share the same site as Cheadle Hulme Primary School.

In 2023 Laurus Cheadle Hulme achieved an outstanding set of GCSE results with over 70% of students achieving at least a grade 4 standard pass and 61% a strong pass in English and Maths. Our Year 9 students also received phenomenal results in GCSE Spanish. 89% of our Year 9s achieved the gold standard of a grade 5 or better, 79% of students achieved at least a grade 6 or above and 42% of students achieved at least a grade 7 or above. These results far outstrip national Year 11 figures.

The school is run by the Laurus Trust and replicates the outstanding education offered by the Trust’s founder school, Cheadle Hulme High School (CHHS), based in Stockport. CHHS is a hugely oversubscribed school and has been named as one of the UK’s top-performing schools in The Sunday Times, ranking as the 15th non-denominational comprehensive school in Manchester and the North West in the annual Parent Power Survey for 2022.
