About Tauheedul Islam Boys' High School

Tauheedul Islam Boys’ High School is a Muslim faith-based secondary school for 11 to 18 year old boys, which welcomes pupils from all faiths and none.  We opened in Blackburn in 2012 as Star Academies’ first free school and will move to our new state-of-the-art site in 2019/20.  Like all Star schools, we have a leadership specialism. We are extremely proud to be one of the highest performing schools in the country, with the 8th Progress 8 score nationally for our 2018 GCSE results.We were graded as ‘Outstanding’ in all areas by Ofsted during our first inspection in April 2014.

Who we’re looking for

We’re looking for a highly organised Assistant Catering Manager to help create, maintain and manage a safe learning environment for our young people.  You will have a keen eye for detail to ensure our facilities are clean, safe and well maintained.

The successful candidate will be a committed team player with excellent organisational and technical skills.  You will have the ability to effectively problem solve and provide excellent customer service to our community.

What does the role look like?

As an Assistant Catering Manager, you will supervise the provision of high quality meals, ensuring compliance with all legislative requirements relating to the schools meals service are met.

The role is on a fixed term basis for 1 year from September 2019.

You will have:

  • A City and Guilds 706/1 and 2 or NVQ catering equivalent (Level 1 and 2)
  • A valid Food Hygiene qualification
  • Experience of supervising staff
  • Experience of preparing, cooking and serving food for large numbers, including the ability to scale recipes up and down to suit varying numbers
  • Experience of ordering commodities, completing food costing’s, stock control, daily cash reconciliation  and general kitchen administration duties  
  • Good knowledge of Health and Safety, Hygiene regulations, HACCP, RIDDOR, COSHH  and all legislation relating to the Catering Industry.
