Assistant Curriculum Area Leader of Art and Photography with Responsibility for Virtual Learning Environment Content and Primary Liaison across the Department
We are seeking to appoint an Assistant Curriculum Area Leader to join our dedicated and well-resourced Art, Design and Technology team, with a particular focus on Art and Photography. We are looking for a candidate who is ambitious, creative and a highly effective classroom practitioner.
The successful candidate will teach Art at Key Stage 3 and AQA Art and Design and Photography at Key Stage 4. In addition, the successful candidate will be responsible for the management and preparation of schemes of work, departmental monitoring, standardising, assessing and recording of students’ work, in line with curriculum area and whole school policies.
Art, Design and Technology is a very strong curriculum area. Staff are collaborative and work hard to ensure that they are the best practitioners that they can be, to provide students with the best possible educational and extra-curricular experiences.
Our most recent GCSE results were excellent, with 90% of the Art cohort achieving grades 4 or above and 67% of the Photography cohort achieving grades 4 or above. These high levels of attainment reflect team’s superb practice, drive and creativity. The successful candidate will be expected to promote and develop the curriculum area’s shared vision to continue improving outcomes for tomorrow’s artists and photographers.
Honley High School has a strong reputation locally for academic excellence. Students at Honley make “above average” progress compared with students of similar abilities in other schools and in 2018 we recorded a progress 8 figure of +0.34. Honley High School is a large secondary comprehensive school in Honley, West Yorkshire with approximately 1,280 students aged 11-16 on the school roll.
Honley High School first opened in 1932 and occupies a delightful rural setting in the heart of the Holme Valley. The village of Honley has a population of approximately 6,500 and has rail links to Huddersfield and Sheffield and has regular bus services.
