Job overview

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, highly motivated and inspirational Assistant Curriculum Leader to help lead History in our highly successful Humanities department.

This is an exciting opportunity to join one of the region’s highest performing schools; in May 2014 Ofsted graded every aspect of Churchill Community College as ‘outstanding.’ In addition, we are a Teaching School and we lead the Great North Maths Hub. Our Executive Headteacher is a National Leader of Education. Our value added data, published in January 2016, places us as the top school in the north-east of England for pupil performance, and 35th nationally. The college is recognised for the high-quality professional development programme we offer our staff.

At Churchill we believe the education of every child is of equal value and that ethos informs all of our work. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate proven subject skills, excellent classroom practice, the ability to inspire and motivate students and staff and a capacity for hard work whilst retaining a sense of perspective and humour. We are looking for someone who will help lead the continued development of our practice and provision in Humanities.

The college enjoys a reputation for dynamic teaching and learning. Achievement is strong and the post offers a superb opportunity for an energetic creative teacher with excellent skills to develop further within a positive and supportive environment.

All staff that join the school benefit from a carefully structured programme of training and support and are provided with a college iPad.

The closing date is 12.30pm on Friday 27th May 2016.

Job packs are available to download from our website www.churchillcommunitycollege.org. Completed applications should be returned to Heather Bell, Headteacher’s PA, via email: heather.bell@ntlp.org.uk or by post:

Churchill Community College is an 11-18yrs comprehensive school in North Tyneside.

Churchill is very much a community school, and whilst the community we serve is enormously proud and supportive of the school, a significant proportion of our students come from low income or deprived households, with more than 40% of our cohort eligible for the Pupil Premium.

We aim to make all our young people feel completely safe, secure, valued and appreciative of the many opportunities their education here can afford them.

We set high standards in all areas and expect the very best from all members of our learning community. In return, we aim to provide excellent teaching and up-to-date curriculum provision with high quality pastoral care and an outstanding range of opportunities beyond the classroom for all learners. We believe these are the hallmarks of a truly successful school.
