Job overview

The College seeks to appoint an experienced teacher who has the energy, vision and ambition needed to assist the Curriculum Leader for Mathematics. 

Assistance Curriculum Leaders are highly valued and form part of the College’s Wider Leadership Team. You will be required to work closely with the Curriculum Leader in order to deliver on the College’s key priorities and to inspirationally drive forward teaching, learning and assessment.   

You will have proven experience of teaching the suite of courses offered - A Levels in Maths, Further Maths, Statistics, GCSE Maths and Core Maths to 16-19 year old students and be a highly effective classroom practitioner who can challenge and them. You will have a relevant degree and/or an equivalent vocational qualification as well as a teaching qualification.

Solihull Sixth Form College is a sixth form college for 16-19 year olds in Solihull and Birmingham. Part of the Summit Learning Trust, the college has more than 2,000 students. The large majority of courses are A levels, but vocational courses (mostly BTECs) are also available.

Founded in 1974, the college boasts extensive sport facilities, as well as a library containing tens of thousands of books and digital resources. The Sixth Form College, Solihull has official links with a number of other educational institutions, including secondary schools and universities, via the Specialist Academies project.

Solihull Sixth Form College emphasises flexible study, with students having the freedom to select a wide variety of subjects in any combination. The college provides extensive support for students completing Extended Project Qualifications, as well as offering a number of BTEC and CACHE courses to supplement this. As part of the college’s ethos of academic flexibility, extra-curricular activities are also well supported,  with activities ranging from sport, drama, music, a volunteer project in The Gambia, a Pre-Medical School, a Psychology Research School and much more”
