Icknield High School is a highly successful multi-cultural 11-16 Academy, situated in pleasant grounds on the northern outskirts of town. We are justifiably proud of our excellent results, achieving a Progress 8 score of +0.4 in 2019 and believe that we offer both students and staff a caring environment in which they can succeed.

We are seeking to appoint a dynamic, inspirational and passionate specialist to lead our highly effective Business and Computing department. This is a tremendous opportunity to lead a high performing team of specialist teachers who consistently achieve outstanding outcomes for our students.

We are extremely proud of the outcomes for GCSE 9-1 Science in 2021. Overall, 72% of our students achieved a grade 4 or above, 56% achieved a grade 5 or above and 24% achieved a grade 7 or above. The value added for the department was +0.20.

Successful candidates will demonstrate:

  • Up to date knowledge about the recent changes to Curriculum Design.
  • An outstanding track record within your current department.
  • Experience of developing and holding staff accountable.

We work hard to ensure we reduce workload on staff, allowing more time in the classroom to put our vision of students first, raising standards and transforming lives into practice.

About Icknield High School

Located in the city of Luton, Bedfordshire, Icknield High School is a secondary academy, with a specialist status in art. Although the school has no sixth form, it has around 1400 pupils aged 11-16 in a co-educational setting, making it considerably larger than the average school of its type. Icknield School has an extremely culturally diverse catchment area, a fact reflected in the school’s student intake. Although the vast majority of teaching take place in school, a small number of students do make use of local off-site provision for particular subjects or needs.
