Job overview

Congleton High School (CHS), a member of The Learning Alliance Trust, is a rural school located in the heart of the Cheshire countryside. Recognised by Ofsted as “An inclusive school where you aim to get the best out of everyone”, we have a strong team ethos, with students and staff alike welcoming the opportunity to help others succeed. Staff members work collaboratively together with each other and with students and parents to build strong relationships and improve outcomes for all.

Due to the promotion of the current postholder we are seeking to appoint an Assistant Curriculum Team Leader of PE (Leader of Boys’ PE) to join and contribute to the leadership of our very successful department.    We recognise and value the importance that Physical Education and school sport can have on the wellbeing and development of our students, and they make exceptional progress.  Their engagement in extracurricular PE activities is extremely high.  This is a perfect opportunity for a candidate looking to take the next step in leadership whilst making a lasting difference to young people’s lives.

As Assistant Curriculum Team Leader, you will be joining an outstanding department which has an excellent reputation within the local area. The ability to teach boys’ PE is essential, and you will be expected to teach across the full age range and contribute to the teaching of academic courses which currently include GCSE PE, A Level PE, and Level 2 and 3 vocational courses. A commitment to further development and to participate in the school’s extra-curricular programme is essential.

The school has excellent sporting facilities, including a 3G pitch, sports hall, fitness suite, gym and extensive fields. In summer 2018, Congleton High School achieved the highest Progress 8 score in Cheshire and has an impressive track record of high academic achievement. The school has a strong Staff Development and Induction Programme embedded, and places high importance on the well-being of staff.

Continuing professional development for our Middle Leaders is at the core of everything we do and you would be joining an organisation which would offer numerous career developments to Senior Leadership and beyond.

If you would like an informal discussion about the post, please contact Mr Jim Barlow, Headteacher on jbarlow@congletonhigh.com or 01260 730123. For further information about the school, please visit our website http://www.congletonhigh.com/.

As an equal opportunities employer The Learning Alliance is committed to creating a diverse workforce and welcomes applications from members of minority groups. As part of the Academy Trust’s policy to safeguard children an enhanced DBS will be applied for.

We will only contact candidates that have been short-listed for interview. If you do not receive a communication from Mr J Barlow or our HR team within 10 working days of the closing date you can safely assume that you have not been invited to interview.

If you are interested in applying for this position, please make your application online through the TES.
