The Assistant Dean of Academic Studies is a key leadership role, providing expertise and operational leadership in the curriculum design and implementation of Academic Programmes. Working with the Dean of Academic Studies, the role will lead and support the implementation of a consistent research-informed pedagogical approach to all college programmes with significant summative assessment, drawing upon international best practice and regional and national policies and expectations. The role will implement strategies that build upon lessons learnt from the ‘pandemic years’ to take the best parts of a blended learning approach to support catch up learning, reinforcement and stretch and challenge of GCSE and A Level study programme learners. The role will also ensure consistency in the implementation of end-to-end transition management through the student journey from first point of contact to progression within all GCSE and A Level study programme subject areas.


The Assistant Dean of Academic Studies will be a supportive member of the Wider Leadership Team which drives a culture of high performance and aspiration across all areas of the College. The post-holder will, from time to time, deputise for the Dean of Academic Studies, and directly work with and support the Deputy Head of School for English and Deputy Head of School for Maths.

Opened in 1992 after being formed from a number of colleges in the city we now have 5 locations situated in the heart of Liverpool. Currently the college serves more than a third of all 16-18 year olds in Liverpool, and educates almost 12,000 learners a year. In 2018 the college achieved a pass rate of 99.6% beating the national average of 97.6% for a-level results. Within this year as well we had a 100% pass rate in modern languages.

However, the college itself is not just facts and figures. The mission statement of provide high quality skills and education by delivering opportunities for growth to all people and business of the Liverpool City region, shows inclusivity and a community understanding. The ease in which to get here helps quite a lot to. Be it driving, buses, trains or even a ferry you are never short of options. 

Being that working/living in Liverpool does offer a wide range of experiences to have. Historical buildings like the Bombed out church, Royal court theatre house or even a hidden gem like the Bluecoat School lane which boasts being the oldest building in Liverpool. The Beatles museum is a popular place to explore the band and possible find bits out about them you might not have known. Or if just unwinding and relaxing there are multiple pubs/bars, restaurants, and comedy nights to enjoy.
