This is a key position reporting to the Director of Children’s & Adult Services (Statutory Director of Children’s and Adult Services) responsible for driving forward the Council’s Educational & Corporate Parenting Service.

Assistant Director positions have, at their core, generic senior management responsibility. This is coupled with leadership of a range of professional service areas.  Each Assistant Director operates to the same job description which also includes some specifics relating to each role.

The Assistant Director: Education & Corporate Parenting with have responsibility for all matters relating to Education and schools including the Council’s statutory responsibilities. The postholder will be the direct link between the Local Authority and School Leaders particularly head teachers and governing bodies. They will also be responsible for the day to day performance of services within the Education & Corporate Parenting, managing staff and budgets and ensuring that appropriate business planning processes are in place.

The Assistant Director will work closely with the Director: Children’s and Adult Services to deliver the required system change and have a key role to play in developing integrated working practice across public and voluntary sector services.

The post holder should ideally be a Head Teacher or a Senior Educational professional with appropriate qualifications.
