Job overview
Ref Number: REN01423
A better future. A better council.
Renfrewshire's Better Council change programme is shaping an outward looking organisation that works with partners to make the most of combined resources and make a lasting difference to quality of life in our community. Our regeneration and economic development ambitions set out to create an environment of opportunity for our people, and excellent teaching and learning will be key in enabling children to realise their full potential and close the attainment gap in education.
You'll work closely with our Director of Children's Services to ensure high quality education provision in Renfrewshire - working to address our key priorities of raising attainment and closing the poverty gap. You'll work with schools to support continuous improvement in attainment and ensure that all children have access to high quality education, regardless of their socio-economic background - taking lead responsibility for the Renfrewshire Scottish Attainment Challenge and ensuring a corporate response and engagement to raising attainment across the council. In addition you will be responsible for the delivery of the National Improvement Framework and lead on Delivering Excellence and Equity in Renfrewshire's educational establishments. You will be the Chief Education Officer and deliver high standards of professional advice on all education matters within the council.
We expect that you'll have a track record in delivering improvement in an education setting and the professional credibility and sector knowledge to engage successfully with head teachers and parents. You should offer up-to-date experience of innovative curriculum development and most importantly, you'll share our commitment to deliver the best for every child and have clear ideas on how you can contribute to our ambitions for Renfrewshire.
