Whitgift is a leading independent day and boarding school for nearly 1500 boys, with over one hundred boarding pupils. It is set in an attractive 48-acre parkland site in South Croydon enjoying excellent links to London, Surrey and the south coast.

This is an extremely exciting and unique opportunity for an outstanding person to help lead and shape this vibrant Music department. Whitgift is a highly stimulating and rewarding school in which to work; a new vision for Whitgift 2025 has recently been developed, and the School is now embarking on the challenge of implementing these values. The successful candidate will have extensive support from senior colleagues, namely the director of music, but there is also the opportunity for considerable innovation and flexibility as to how our thriving music department will develop over the coming years.

We are looking for a well-qualified and inspirational graduate musician. Outstanding leadership, organisational and people skills will be essential. The successful candidate will help lead a team of creative teachers and musicians alongside a large number of highly motivated visiting music teachers, and support staff. Whitgift offers music at GCSE, A level and IB, and the post-holder would be expected to teach outstanding academic music lessons as part of their role. They will also be passionate in developing opportunities to celebrate every pupil’s effort and achievement both in the classroom and on the concert platform.
