The Role

As Assistant Faculty Leader of Maths, you will play a crucial role in supporting the faculty leader in all aspects of the department’s operation. You will contribute to the development and implementation of the faculty’s strategy, ensuring high-quality teaching, learning and assessment across all key stages. This is an exciting opportunity to develop your leadership skills and make a significant impact on the progress and attainment of our students in maths.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Faculty Leader: To assist the faculty leader in the strategic planning, management, and evaluation of the maths faculty.
  • Curriculum Development: To contribute to the development, implementation, and review of a challenging and engaging maths curriculum across all key stages.
  • Teaching and Learning: To model and promote outstanding teaching practices within the department, supporting colleagues in their delivery of high-quality lessons.
  • Data Analysis and Intervention: To assist in the analysis of student performance data, identifying trends and implementing effective intervention strategies to support student progress.
  • Staff Development: To contribute to the professional development of maths staff, including mentoring, coaching, and sharing best practice.
  • Assessment and Reporting: To support the implementation of effective assessment and reporting procedures within the department.
  • Resources and Equipment: To assist in the management and organisation of departmental resources and equipment.
  • Collaboration: To work collaboratively with other departments and the senior leadership team to ensure a consistent and holistic approach to student learning.
  • Deputising: To deputise for the faculty leader in their absence.
  • Safeguarding: To be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, adhering to school policies and procedures.


We are looking for candidates who is:

  • An experienced maths teacher with a proven track record of raising student attainment.
  • Possess strong leadership potential and a desire to develop their leadership skills.
  • Have a deep understanding of the maths curriculum and effective pedagogical approaches.
  • Are able to use data to inform practice and drive improvement.
  • Have excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.
  • Are able to motivate and inspire both students and colleagues.
  • Are committed to continuous professional development.
