Job overview

Full time and Permanent

MPS/UPS Plus a TLR2b Allowance

Required for September 2021.  The Academy Council of this outstanding, high achieving and oversubscribed Catholic Voluntary Academy seek to appoint an inspiring, enthusiastic, talented and experienced teacher of science to provide leadership and management to our highly successful science faculty.  The successful candidate will support the faculty leader to build on existing strengths within the department and drive improvements to ensure that high quality teaching, effective use of resources and improved standards of learning and achievement is delivered to all students. The Science Faculty enjoys excellent results across all key stages and is a popular option at A level.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a well-qualified teacher of science to take responsibility for supporting a committed team of staff with capacity to build on our November 2014 Outstanding Ofsted judgment and an Outstanding SE48 Inspection in June 2019.  As an inspirational leader, you will have a proven track record in raising achievement and standards across all key stages and abilities.  This is an opportunity for a candidate who is looking to take the next step in their career within this core curriculum area.

St. Mary’s is a popular and highly successful school situated on the North West fringe of Leeds, close to the Yorkshire Dales.  The school is part of the Bishop Wheeler Catholic Academy Trust which consists of the high school and 10 primary schools.  The November 2014 Ofsted inspection judged St Mary’s as an outstanding school.  We became a Teaching School in October 2015 and a National Support School in September 2017.

Further details and a CES application form are available via the school website www.stmarysmenston.org in the Vacancies section.  Please email your completed application to recruitment@stmarysmenston.org addressed to the Headteacher.

Closing date: Monday 24 May 2021, 12 noon

Interviews: It is anticipated that interviews will take place the same week.

St. Mary’s is committed to promoting and safeguarding the welfare of all children and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.  This post is subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
