Job overview

Benenden School is renowned for its wide ranging and innovative co-curricular programme and the School is recruiting for an Assistant Head Co-Curricular to lead the co-curricular team. The successful candidate will play an important part in developing the provision of co-curricular activities across the School, aiming to further develop students’ interests and skills across all areas of the co-curriculum in its broadest form.

We are seeking applications from dynamic, imaginative and highly skilled leaders with experience of working in the co-curricular sphere of education. The co-curricular programme is an essential part of the school’s ”A Complete Education” programme and covers trips, art, music, drama, sport, outdoor and environmental education, the Combined Cadet Force and the Weekend Programme. Working with the Deputy Head Staff and Co-Curricular the successful candidate will be responsible for leading the Heads of each of these Departments and ensuring that, together, they create the best possible range of activities for the pupils. Making sure that all pupils have regular access to high quality co-curricular activity is of paramount importance to the School, as is ensuring that pupils with particular talents and skills are able to develop to elite level in their field.

This is a significant role within the School’s extended Senior Leadership Team and an excellent opportunity for an ambitious middle manager or Head of Department seeking an interesting promotion within an exceptionally beautiful and rewarding environment in which to work.

Benenden offers its own generous pay structure, responsibility allowances and benefits. All staff joining the School are eligible to apply for on-site accommodation.

We are an ambitious school, with recent developments including a state-of-the-art Science Centre and All-Weather Sports Pitch, and we are currently working to establish a new School Hall and Music School.

Meals are provided to staff whilst on duty. The School’s leisure facilities, including a fitness gym and swimming pool are available for staff to use.
