Role Overview:
The Assistant Head-Data and Reporting is a senior leadership position reporting directly to the Principal. The post holder will lead the strategic use of academic data to support school improvement, high-quality teaching and learning, and informed decision-making across the whole school.
Working closely with the Assistant Heads: Teaching and Learning, the successful candidate will ensure that data collection is purposeful, systems are robust, and analysis clearly supports the school’s ongoing improvement journey. The role requires the ability to work effectively across all phases, supported by section specialists.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Strategic Data Management
Provide senior leadership oversight of all school data systems, ensuring assessment, tracking and reporting processes are coherent and fit for purpose.
Analyse attainment, progress and other key datasets to identify trends, priorities and areas for development at school, department and individual student level.
Lead on all internal and external reporting, producing clear, accurate and impactful reports for teachers, leaders, parents, governors and regulatory bodies.
Plan and manage school reporting cycles, ensuring outputs are meaningful and support strategic school improvement.
Supporting Teaching, Learning & Curriculum Development
Work collaboratively with the Assistant Heads: Teaching and Learning to ensure data meaningfully supports teaching quality, curriculum planning and student outcomes.
Support staff in understanding and effectively utilising data to raise standards and improve pupil progress.
Contribute to whole-school self-evaluation, performance analysis and strategic planning.
Classroom Practice
Maintain a teaching commitment, modelling excellent practice, professionalism and high expectations.
Person Specification:
Proven experience in senior or middle leadership with a strong track record of raising standards.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex data clearly and persuasively to a range of audiences.
Strong numerical confidence and the ability to interpret and apply data to drive informed decision-making.
Experience managing assessment, tracking and reporting systems in a school setting.
A collaborative leadership style, able to build shared understanding and drive positive change.
A highly credible classroom practitioner with a deep understanding of how data supports outstanding teaching, learning and student progress.
