Assistant Head (Director of Digital Strategy)

The Director of Digital Strategy is an important whole-school role and offers an exciting opportunity for an experienced classroom teacher with a passion for new technology as an educational tool.  

As the Director of Digital Strategy, you will be a member of the Senior Leadership Team, providing strategic leadership in digital teaching and learning at South Hampstead High School, ensuring technology is integrated into all aspects of the School community. You will also be expected to teach a reduced timetable (approx. 16 periods), in the Junior School or the Senior School.  

The Junior School already has a well-established 1:1 iPad roll-out in Years 5 and 6. The Senior School is planning for 1:1 phased roll-out over the next 12 to 18 months. Staff have their own iPads and have received some training already. We also have class sets of iPads which have been very popular.   

The successful applicant will demonstrate an enthusiasm for exploring the uses of new technology in the classroom and will embrace the School’s philosophy that new technologies are a complement to and not a replacement for other equally effective teaching resources. They will be outstanding classroom teachers themselves and will enjoy thinking about how technology can best be harnessed to enhance learning. They will be savvy and outward looking users of technology themselves, but fundamentally we are looking for an educational rather than a technical expert.
