Job overview

Required for September 2023

Old Palace of John Whitgift School is seeking to appoint an outstanding individual to the new position of Assistant Head (Director of Sixth Form). Old Palace is a very successful independent school based in Croydon, Surrey, educating girls aged 3 to 18 across our Prep and Senior Schools.

The school is part of the John Whitgift Foundation, a charity committed to providing a first-rate education through its three schools; Old Palace, Trinity and Whitgift. The Foundation also provides a significant number of bursaries to support students in its schools.

The Director of Sixth Form will play a key role in the strategic direction for Old Palace. Building on the current successes, the Director of Sixth Form will have the opportunity to develop a strategic plan for the Sixth Form to allow it to be a destination of choice for both our own Year 11 students and for external applicants.

Alongside the leadership of the Sixth Form, the post holder will also be responsible for the programme of activities for the development of academic scholars (also open to others) across the wider school.

The Director of Sixth Form will report to the Senior Deputy Head. It expected that the post holder will have a teaching allocation commensurate with the Assistant Head role.

If you would like to receive more information on the role please contact Jane Thomas on jthomas@oldpalace.croydon.sch.uk

Closing date: 12 noon, Tuesday 31 January 2023

Interview date: Thursday 9 February 2023

Old Palace School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. This post is subject to enhanced DBS and other checks in line with safer recruitment best practice.
