We are seeking an experienced and passionate Assistant Head with a background in social work to lead on school priorities that promote full inclusion, break down barriers to attendance and behaviour for learning, and help every pupil reach their full potential.

In this pivotal role, you will work collaboratively with our clinical and inclusion teams to develop and implement tailored strategies for individual pupils and whole-school initiatives. You will also take a leading role in delivering interventions as part of our Families and Schools Together (FAST) programme and serve as the school’s Designated Safeguarding Lead.

We welcome qualified social workers with experience in managing diverse caseloads, supporting young people with complex needs, social isolation, and barriers to learning. Those with leadership experience in educational or therapeutic settings are particularly encouraged to apply.

TCES Northwest London provides therapeutic education and unique learning experiences to neurodiverse pupils with complex needs and trauma-related behaviours. Through creativity, personalised support, and intensive therapeutic intervention, we help our pupils grow from dependence to independence—equipping them for success in both academic and personal development.

The Complete Education Solution (TCES)

TCES is an independent social enterprise. providing specialist therapeutic education based in London. We support exceptional neurodiverse children and young people aged 7 to 19 who have special educational needs and disabilities typically associated with autism, social emotional and mental health needs and associated disorders. Most of them will have experienced multiple placement breakdowns and significant trauma, often resulting in behaviour that challenges. On average pupils will have been excluded from other provisions up to three times before reaching us and had significant periods out of education.

TCES pupils learn at one of our two independent day schools in London, within our Create Service or our National Online School; Create in the Community and Create Learning Primary support our most complex and vulnerable pupils, with TCES East London and TCES North West London supporting those who are able to access learning within a school environment. When they are ready, we aim for pupils to step down from Create into one of our main schools or TCES Sixth Form.

Essential requirements to be successful in the role are:

  • Able to deliver an engaging and diverse curriculum through outstanding teaching practice.
  • Resilient and robust, role modelling outstanding teaching and professionalism.
  • Substantial demonstrable experience within specialist therapeutic education provisions or specialist schools, collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams of educators, clinicians and social workers.
  • Proven experience of positive performance management & developing teams, inclusive of coaching and influencing staff to deliver innovative ways of working and teaching.
  • Demonstrable experience in meeting needs of individuals, providing bespoke interventions, and educational administration linked to Education, Health & Care Plans (EHCPs)
  • Experience of driving inclusive education initiatives to support best practice with vulnerable and complex groups.
  • Proven skills in coaching & mentoring.
  • Proactive and innovative, collaborating with team members in other disciplines, whilst also with the ability to work flexibly and independently.
