The White House Prep seeks to appoint a talented, creative and inspiring senior leader to take up appointment in September 2018.

The School

The White House Preparatory School is a close-knit Independent Co-Educational school from 2½ - 11 years. With small classes we are committed to high academic standards and encouraging a love of learning. 

Purpose of job

Under the direction of the Head, to play a major role in formulating the aims and objectives of the school establishing the policies through which they shall be achieved, managing staff and resources to achieve the aims and objectives of the school and monitor progress towards their achievement. 

Person specification

Working closely with the Head the candidate will be a team player. S/He will be a confident classroom practitioner who has held a leadership position. They will be a caring professional with high expectations of pupil attainment at the core of which is the ability to form excellent relationships with pupils, parents and colleagues. They should have the potential to take forward their skills to support the further development of this outstanding school.

Job description:

The post holder will support the Head in maintaining the ethos of the school ensuring the creative development of the curriculum so that assessment and reporting deliver high standards whilst embracing the development of the whole child. S/He will lead the development and review of the curriculum including planning, recording, reporting and assessment. 

To support the Head so that all pupils have the best possible care, have access to a broad and balanced curriculum and achieve the highest standards in line with the ethos of the school. 

S/He will assist the Head in the daily operational management of the school and deputise in his absence.

S/He promote and safeguard the welfare of children and young persons for whom we are responsible and with whom you come into contact.

The post holder will be involved in the CPD of colleagues. 

The post holder will be expected to support the school in all of its marketing and admissions activities. 

The postholder will promote and maintain a culture of positive attitudes, collaboration and high expectation. 

Teaching and Learning 

Undertake an appropriate programme of teaching which involves being a class teacher and as such s/he will be a role model of best practice to colleagues.

Be a lead practitioner in establishing creative and effective approaches to teaching and learning.

Be instrumental in maintaining high standards of teaching and behaviour for all pupils. 

Take a lead role in the monitoring of lessons, providing feedback and subsequent follow up, as appropriate. 

Mentor newly qualified teachers.
