Job overview

In anticipation of the College’s boarding student community growing to 125 by September 2020, we are looking to recruit a full-time, permanent contract Assistant Head of Boarding to work closely with the Head of Boarding in the management and development of the College’s boarding provision.

The successful candidate will have a very strong pastoral ethos and commitment to the care and welfare of young people.Excellent ICT, organisational,  communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead and communicate effectively with people at all levels, are also essential.

The College’s boarding environment and ethos is very much that of an independent sector sixth form college, not a traditional boarding school and we seek to appoint someone who is able to work in what is a rather unique boarding setting that combines a wish to enhance students’ experience of boarding when attending the College whilst also encouraging independence.

Experience within boarding is an advantage but is not essential as our focus is upon finding someone who shares our sixth form college values and can successfully fulfil the requirements of the job description.

Please refer to the job description for more details of the duties and responsibilities of the position.

Please note that this role does not include the provision of accommodation within a boarding house; it is a ‘live-out’ position.

Applications for this position must be made via submission of a completed application form that should be sent to vacancies@oxfordsixthformcollege.com

The deadline for receipt of applications is Friday 26th April 2019 and interviews will be held on Wednesday 1st and Thursday 2nd May 2019.

Oxford Sixth Form College is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of students.

The successful applicant will be required to undertake an Enhanced DBS check.

Oxford Tutorial College is an independent further education college based in the city of Oxford. Established in 1988, the college is owned and run by the Oxford International Educational Group. Students at the college are aged 15+, and educated in a co-educational environment in small classes. Around 250 students attend the college, with a significant contingent of international students. Students at the college will either stay with a pre-arranged local family, or in college-managed accommodation, although older students have the option of privately renting accommodation if they prefer.

Principal

Mr Mark Love

Vision and Values

Oxford Tutorial College offers a wide range of A-level subjects, with students having absolute freedom to choose whichever combinations of courses best suit their interests. This includes a number of more specific A-level courses that do not relate to previous GCSE subjects. The college itself works hard to foster a sense of independence and self-drive among its students, encouraging them to seek help when required, but work through challenges on their own as much as possible.

ISI Inspection

“The quality of the curriculum, teaching and learners’ achievements is excellent. Initial assessment is accurate and results in appropriate placement on courses. Diagnostic assessment on arrival, including assessment for SEND, enables the college to provide all required support from the start of the course. Course provision is excellent. All full-time courses meet the definition of an approved qualification for Tier 4 students as set out in Home Office guidance.”
