Do you want to join the leadership of our high achieving department? 

We are looking to expand the leadership of English by recruiting a passionate and knowledgeable teacher to join our excellent English team, leading a key stage in curriculum design and teaching pedagogy. This is an opportunity to work as part of a highly effective team and learn from excellent teachers and leaders.  We are a large and happy English department who are already building on our recent achievements at GCSE and A level. 

• You will understand curriculum, sequencing, adaptation, planning and assessment;

• You will lead on a particular Key stage, depending on your experience and the needs of the department;

• You will influence vision, policy and practice, driving forward departmental teaching and learning and helping support the needs of all of our students;

• You will have proven data analysis skills;

Candidates will be excellent practitioners and will have a track record of success when it comes to teaching of English. They will have a clear understanding of the latest research in curriculum design and pedagogy, understanding what makes a successful English department and will understand the importance of collaboration

The successful candidate will be supported in their own development through the school’s CPD programmes and can expect many opportunities for enhancing their own career.

Swanshurst is an ‘Outstanding School for girls with 1841 students on roll aged 11- 19 years. We offer excellent support and CPD for staff at all stages of their career. 

Ofsted (2017) found pupils at Swanshurst to be “happy, well cared for and that they secure excellent academic and personal outcomes”  and they described the girls as “polite, respectful and courteous”.  Needless to say, we are incredibly proud of them and of all our staff who contribute to the “purposeful learning culture within the school that characterises the work of staff and pupils”

This post is covered by Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) and therefore the ability to speak fluent spoken English is an essential requirement for this role.
