We are seeking to appoint a dynamic and inspirational teacher of PE to assist in leading the PE faculty. This role has arisen due to the promotion of the current post holder and is a great opportunity for any aspiring middle leaders and or curriculum leaders. The candidate will have the necessary skills to lead the KS4 GCSE PE Examination course and the KS4 Core PE Provision. Wollaston PE department is a large and dynamic faculty.

The department is very well resourced with a wide range of newly updated facilities. The PE department consists of 8 PE specialists and the successful candidate will have the necessary experience and skills to work and lead alongside the Head of Faculty.  The ability and experience of teaching Netball and Hockey to a high level and KS5 is preferable also.    


TEACHING RESPONSIBILITIES

  • To undertake an appropriate programme of teaching in accordance with the duties of a standard scale teacher.
  • To continue one’s own personal development as agreed with the relevant Line Manager.
  • To act as a Form Tutor and carry out the duties associated with the role as outlined in the generic job description.
  • To play a full part in the life of the school community to support its distinctive aims and ethos, and to encourage staff and students to follow this example. The support of extra-curricular provision that is a PE department priority.


LEADERSHIP OF GCSE PE COURSE ROLE & ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • To lead & be responsible for the administration and delivery of the GCSE PE examination course.
  • To lead the organisation and preparation of examination and assessment resources and schedules throughout the year.
  • Work alongside the Head of Faculty in leading the Teaching & Learning, across the GCSE PE classes, as well as marking and feedback within the PE departments policies. Maintaining the high expectations of the staff and students within PE.


LEADERSHIP OF KS3 PROVISION IN PE ROLE & ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • To lead the development of KS3 PE delivery, across the PE faculty.
  • Maintain and enhance the schemes of work and learning pathway. Enabling broader learning opportunities throughout the PE curriculum from Year 7 to Year 9.
  • Assist the Head of Faculty in providing an inclusive curriculum, that enables all learners of all abilities, including the SEND students.
  • Leading the assessment and progress of students within KS3 PE lessons.
  • To assist with the management and development of the Extra-Curricular PE programme.

Wollaston School is a large, rural community school located in a village setting about 15 minutes drive from Northampton. The student intake draws on nearby villages and the towns of Earls Barton, Wellingborough, and Irchester. We have over 1400 students on roll with approximately 240 students in the Sixth Form. The school is over-subscribed. Wollaston School was rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted in May 2023.
