Located in the attractive border town of Oswestry, the school enjoys a semi-rural location, within walking distance of the town centre. In 2013, The Marches opened its doors to the school's first ever Sixth Formers and now delivers a broad range of A-Levels and boasts modern, spacious Sixth Form Facilities.

An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic Assistant Head of Sixth Form to join our team. We are seeking an innovative and motivational teacher with excellent subject knowledge and the desire and commitment to raise achievement of students at all levels. We are looking for passionate and inspirational professionals who would enjoy working in an exciting and rewarding environment and are prepared to contribute fully to school life.

This role will have a particular focus on using and applying data effectively to ensure students’ progress is monitored against targets and prompt action is taken to address any concerns as well as delivery of our scholars support programme to the more able students. The successful candidate will strive to ensure our students continue to receive the highest standards of care and support in continuing their learning journey.

We encourage scholars to be intellectually curious and extend their interest in the subjects and vocations for which they feel an aptitude and affinity. We want to allow high fliers to explore topics beyond the constraints of the academic syllabus.

The programme also offers extra support for competitive entry courses (Oxbridge, medical and dentistry, university aptitude tests).

The academic extension programme has four elements:

· Communication

· Critical thinking

· Academic

· Aspirations and future learning

At The Marches School we can offer:

• A full extra-curricular programme with opportunities for enrichment activities for all

• Excellent resources and facilities

• An enthusiastic and supportive team of staff, parents and governors
