ASSISTANT HEAD - PASTORAL

We are seeking to appoint an Assistant Head – Pastoral who will also serve as the Designated Safeguarding Lead for the School. You should be able to demonstrate extensive experience in pastoral care having held a management or leadership role with pastoral responsibilities. You will confidently be able to advise and guide on the application of legislation and best practice, and alongside this enjoy sharing this with other pastoral colleagues in the School community. You will also appreciate the benefits of having an outward focus and enjoy developing pastoral provision based on the practices of fellow professionals in the sector.  

You will be adept at assessing risk and managing your workload through appropriate delegation to your pastoral team. You will know how to support your pastoral team by coaching and guiding their decision making and encouraging their continuous professional development. You will form a key member of the senior management team of the School and enjoy the challenges and responsibilities this brings.  

You will also be able to demonstrate excellent teaching and learning practice in your chosen field and teach a heavily reduced timetable. 

The safeguarding responsibilities of the post include:

  • Child protection
  • Promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young persons for whom you are responsible and with whom you come into contact
  • The duties of this role meet the definition of regulated activity relevant to children and an enhanced DBS check with children’s barred list is appropriate.
