Job overview
We are seeking an outstanding Head of Sixth Form with the relational, intellectual and pastoral skills to lead a thriving Sixth Form within our wider school community.
With around 330 students in a school of 1050, including a significant number joining at 16+, the Sixth Form offers a dynamic and inclusive environment supported by excellent facilities. The successful candidate will champion a strong pastoral culture, ensuring every student feels known, valued and fully integrated, while promoting high academic ambition through a broad programme of A levels, a bespoke Diploma, and independent research. Alongside a rich co-curricular offering, the role will be central to shaping the future of the Sixth Form as the school grows, including expansion towards 400 students and the development of a new Sixth Form centre, playing a key part in delivering a clear and compelling vision within an evolving co-educational setting.

Trinity nurtures extraordinary young people, offering a sector-leading educational experience for boys aged 10–18 and girls aged 16–18. There are four main ages of entry into the school: at 10+, 11+, 13+ and 16+. Building on its successful co-educational Sixth Form, the school is extending co-education across all year groups with girls joining in Year 6 and Year 7 for the first time in September 2027. Over the next five years, the school will grow to approximately 1,400 students, making this an exciting time to join the Trinity community.
Trinity has a broad ethnically and socially diverse student body which reflects the local South London area. Over half of the students enter from local primary schools and, with the support of the Whitgift Foundation, Trinity is able to offer generous bursary and scholarship support, with just over 50% of students receiving financial assistance.
The school was last inspected by the Independent Schools Inspectorate in 2024 and Trinity was awarded a significant strength for its community, with the report recognising the “inclusive and collaborative culture within the school”.
Trinity School is part of the Whitgift Foundation, founded in 1596 by John Whitgift, Archbishop of Canterbury. For over 400 years, the Whitgift Foundation has been educating the young and caring for the elderly. It plays a significant role in Croydon life promoting educational excellence, supporting carers and providing a range of services for elderly people.
The Foundation educates 2,500 students from in and around Croydon through its two independent schools: Trinity and Whitgift (day and boarding for boys aged 10-18). The schools and their students benefit from the support of one of the largest bursary schemes in the country. Over 46% of students are currently supported by a bursary or scholarship scheme, totalling in excess of £5 million per year.
