Job overview

Situated on the beautiful Moray Coast in the North of Scotland, Gordonstoun is widely recognised as the world leader in character education. We have a co-educational community of over 500 students aged from 6-18, who are predominantly full boarding and are drawn from over 40 countries.

We are looking for an inspiring Assistant Head who is keen to play an active role in boarding school life, whether in the classroom, in the mountains or in the middle of the Moray Firth. This is a new role and provides an exciting opportunity to work as part of a vibrant and dynamic curriculum team. You will work closely alongside the Deputy Head Curriculum and the Assistant Heads in charge of Teaching and Learning and the Broader Curriculum. The key focus of this role is to be the lead for student achievement both in the classroom and across the breadth of our curriculum. You will work to ensure policies and procedures are in place to allow all students to achieve success, and that appropriate quality assurance systems ensure we are able to evaluate progress and improve outcomes for all.

You will be a creative and inspiring teacher, all subjects considered, who is passionate about working with students who are eager to learn and challenge themselves. You will have experience of managing staff teams and making a substantial impact across either the whole school, a department or year group.

All candidates should be registered or eligible for registration with the General Teaching Council for Scotland, as this is a condition of employment. The post is suitable for an ambitious middle leader or a candidate with previous leadership experience.

Gordonstoun is striving to build a team that is truly inclusive. We welcome applications from marginalised and under-represented groups.
