This is an established MoD (Ministry of Defence) post within Cyprus and any Cypriot National will not be eligible to apply as a UKBC (UK British Civil Servant).

Job description

The key purpose of the role is to:

  • To provide strong leadership that results in the provision of first-class teaching and learning opportunities for all pupils.
  • To work with other leaders and curriculum leaders to provide an integrated coherent approach to teaching and learning which ensures that all pupils make sound progress from their starting points.
  • To be responsible for monitoring and evaluating the quality of teaching and pupil achievement ensuring high standards are attained by staff and that all children fulfil their potential within the early years and key stage 1 specifically.
  • To lead the staff team in developing further a strong learning culture that has high expectations of work and behaviour at its centre.
  • To set high professional development standards as a class teacher providing a role model for all staff in both classroom organisation and management and in implementing all school policies.
  • To support community cohesion within the school by acting as a lead for parent and community engagement.

Person specification

The post holder will be required to hold qualified teacher status and demonstrate the following essential skills, knowledge and experience:

  • Teaching within and a strong knowledge and understanding of Key Stage 1 and the Early Years Foundation Stage.
  • Excellent teaching practice, specifically within the Early Years and Key Stage 1 with an understanding of pre-school provision.
  • Holding a post of responsibility for an area of leadership clearly demonstrating whole school impact.
  • Developing effective approaches to teaching and learning in the curriculum.
  • Leading professional development and in service training.
  • Effective assessment and data tracking.
  • Securing high expectations and challenging targets.
  • Tackling under performance and areas of weakness.
  • Ensuring improvement plans and policies are consistently adopted and promote continuous school improvement.
  • Supporting children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) needs and staff to ensure effective inclusion for all children.
  • Effective safeguarding procedures.
  • Providing advice, support and relevant continuing professional development for teachers and learning support assistants to raise standards with a direct impact on pupil outcomes.

  • Evidence of qualification will be required at interview.

In line with the terms and conditions of service for this post, accommodation is free for the first five years of your MOD employment overseas with subsidised utilities. Thereafter, rent and utilities are payable. Please note if you have previously worked overseas for the MOD and have been in recipient of free rent and utilities then that period will be deducted from your five-year allowance.
