Rossendale School are now recruiting for an Assistant Head Teacher! 

We are looking for an experienced or aspiring Assistant Headteacher to join our Senior Leadership Team. This enthusiastic and inspiring senior leader would support the Deputy Headteacher and Headteacher in leading and developing the Quality of Education at our School.

We are seeking a good communicator, one who can see the potential and bring out the best in others, be that pupils or colleagues. We are a school who value teamwork, excellent cooperation skills, flexibility, creativity and emotional intelligence, alongside outstanding personal professional standards. You will be involved at a strategic level, having the opportunity to influence and positively impact on the lives of young people, all with an Education, Health and Care Plan.

Rossendale School is a highly regarded Special school for pupils aged 7 to 18 with an Autistic Spectrum Condition (ASC) We are committed to achieving the best outcome for each pupil and their family through access to outstanding education and family support.

We provide a sector-leading therapeutic provision and outstanding curriculum across two sites. Due to the promotion of the current post holder, we have an exciting opportunity to join the school leadership team.

As a member of our team, you will be instrumental in laying the foundation of outstanding standards of education and creating a stimulating and purposeful environment where our pupils can make excellent progress. 

Senior leaders of Rossendale School will support the Headteacher and work alongside the Deputy Headteacher in areas such as:

  • To work as part of team with the Assistant Headteachers who are also responsible for Teaching, Learning and Assessment at their respective Keystages.
  • Managing staff and resources to that end
  • Mentoring and coaching staff
  • Monitoring academic attainment and progress across the school
  • Developing and implementing the wider curriculum across school
  • Monitoring and evaluating progress towards the achievement of the schools aims and objectives; providing clarity and follow-up of identified next steps
  •   High professional standards
  • Genuine desire to provide the best education for pupils, whatever their ability
  • Assisting the Head Teacher and Deputy Head in the design and implementation of the SDP, SEF and all other key documents.
  • Engendering respect for individuality, difference, the importance of teamwork and the contribution that each pupil makes to the life of the school and local community.
  • Communicate the school’s vision compellingly.
  • Lead by example, including in your own classroom as there will be a small teaching allocation, focusing on providing excellent education for all pupils.
  • Implement strategies and initiatives to share best practice with others in the school.
  • Lead on particular whole school strategies and policy areas.

Rossendale is a school catering for the needs of pupils whose learning disability may be affected by an Autism Spectrum Disorder.

The School provides education for young people aged from 7 – 18 years of age. Our Key Stages 2, 3 and 4 are based on the main school site, whilst Key Stage 5 have a specialist sixth form building based in the local community. At Key Stage 4 and 5 we offer a wide range of GCSE subjects, BTEC Awards, Functional Skills, ASDAN and Entry Level qualifications. We currently want to expand A level courses at the sixth form provision. The school admits boys and girls on both daily and residential placements. Rossendale School has an excellent staff team who are enthusiastic and supportive. Rossendale School was judged to be 'Outstanding' in all areas by Ofsted.
