ABOUT CHURCHWARD SCHOOL:

Churchward School is a forward thinking and innovative special School with a very exciting future ahead of us. Having opened in September 2018 as an 11-19 free School on the outskirts of Swindon, we have recently moved into new purpose built School that will accommodate 75 students with a diagnosis of autism and/or social communication and interaction difficulties.

Our vision is that every student, regardless of their background or the challenges they face, can succeed and gain meaningful qualifications that support the next steps in their lives – whatever that may be. We work closely with external providers and outside agencies to create the best academic and therapeutic curriculum possible for each individual student.

We have very high aspirations for all of our students and are looking for someone who shares our beliefs and values. This is an exciting appointment as we look to enhance the senior leadership team in order to develop our offer available to children and young people both in school and the local area.

REQUIREMENTS:

The Local Governing Committee (LGC) of Churchward School are seeking to appoint a highly motivated Assistant Head Teacher –  Specialist Programmes & Alternative Provision (AHT). Main responsibilities will be:

  • To ensure a high quality service is provided to meet the educational and support needs of students
  • As a member of the SLT, to manage the day-to-day operational running of the School
  • To support the Head teacher to put in place appropriate systems, regulations and processes that align with BSM
  • To support the Head teacher to ensure the School meets the essential requirements of relevant inspection and regulatory bodies
  • To support the School Safeguarding Team as a Designated Deputy Safeguarding Lead
  • To support the development of the School’s offer for present and future needs
  • To ensure there is effective student recruitment to deliver sustainable student levels
  • To support the School implementation of the BSM governance and QA framework
  • To work with the BSM leadership to ensure the School meets the Trust’s strategic objectives
